I know she’ll never change. Once i get there, she’ll sniff my cheek and make me feel guilty for not visiting her earlier, which i know i should have. She’ll take 20 seconds to walk to the shelf above her fireplace, which is like five steps away, expecting me to follow her. Then she’ll give me a $1.99 burfday card that says “happy birthday” in her tinyass 4pt-sized cursive. I’ll open it to read some cute lil’ message signed “With all my love, Grandma Bing” and her PERFECTLY ironed twennnay dollah bill. She’ll give me some jewelry and if im lucky some damn cute vintage clothes. We talk and she’ll share a “not even funny but the way she told me and laughed after is funny” story. Then i tell her i have to go and she’ll watch us drive away and wave from her doorstep.
